A heritage club in a public park needed a modern solution without losing its character. Park Dome protects the green under a lightweight structure, creating consistent playing conditions and securing the club’s future as a destination facility.

Caulfield Park Sports Club is a community based, not for profit organisation with a long history and ambitious plans for the next century. With around 300 bowling members and broader participation growing through soccer and planned pickleball courts, the club’s vision was to become a year round sporting hub for the wider community.
Before the upgrade, the bowling green was effectively unavailable for a significant part of the year due to weather exposure and inconsistent conditions. That limitation impacted participation, reduced programming options, and made it harder to attract new members and host events.
Delivering a large structure in a public park also came with real constraints. The club needed to navigate a complex approval pathway with council and local stakeholders, while ensuring the finished facility would sit comfortably within the park setting and serve players of all ages and abilities.
Greenline worked closely with the club team to translate a clear performance brief into a buildable design. The result is a bespoke shade structure that prioritises consistent playing conditions, comfort, and operational flexibility.
The structure combines a powder coated steel frame with a white PVC membrane cover, alongside integrated lighting, fans, speakers, and screens connected to an operations room. A blue playing surface was selected to improve visual clarity for players with visual impairments and to support live streaming. Detailed coordination up front helped deliver a clean fit and finish, with commissioning and final tweaks completed to align performance with the club’s expectations.
Park Dome has changed how the club uses its site and how the community engages with it. The green now supports play 52 weeks a year, enabling coaching, competitions, social sessions, and school use in a more comfortable, reliable environment.
The impact has been measurable, with membership reported to have increased by around 40 percent in the first 12 months. Visiting teams and first time users have helped build momentum, reinforcing the venue’s role as a destination facility. As the club put it: “Greenline fulfilled the dream… everything we wanted and more.”
